Finding Fierce Hope in the Odd and Fantastical

Choosing Joy, Choosing Honesty

Secretly, that rock shaped like a ladybug makes you happy. You still spread your arms out when the wind blows and pretend that you are flying. You love string cheese, juice boxes and pudding cups. And in the quiet of your heart of hearts, you are disappointed when you set a book aside and they act like growing up means losing your joy of the delightfully unique.

.

But when you seek out stories that gave you joy when you were younger, they don’t address your life now. They don’t understand how much you're struggling to overcome. It feels like you either choose to read ‘serious’ adventures, or ‘feel good’ fluffs.

What if you could have both the odd and fantastical, mixed with the honesty of fierce hope?

Hello! I’m Abigail.

As a young girl, I adored reading stories like Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Stories of war, that also held on to fierce hope, and the belief of victory. They inspired me to dream, hope, laugh, and overcome. When I started reading YA I was dismayed to find that instead of equipping me, they brought discouragement. Where had all the hope and wonder gone?

I write YA Fantasy stories that explore the fantastical, delight in the peculiar, and values the tenacity choosing joy and choosing hope requires.
